REWARD OFFERED IN DOUGLAS COUNTY POACHING INCIDENTS
#1
The Misty Pines Home Owners Association and Operation Game Thief have pooled their resources to offer up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the charging of the individual(s) responsible for poaching deer in the Douglas County open space adjacent to Misty Pines.

"The open space area, known as Pinery Preserve, is closed to hunting," said Thomas Welley, Senior Park Ranger of Douglas County Open Space. Cooperative efforts between the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Douglas County Open Space have focused on catching a suspect and putting a stop to the poaching.

Deer poaching incidents have occurred over several years in the area. Proactive efforts by local residents led to the collection of $9,000 of private donations for the reward. "The Colorado Division of Wildlife is very thankful for the community support in this effort", said Paul Foutz, District Wildlife Manager.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity in the area, noting any license plates, vehicle identification or physical descriptions of the people/person in question.

Incidents in progress can be reported to the Colorado State Patrol (CDOW Dispatch) at 303-239-4501 or the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 303-660-7500. Suspicious activity or information regarding poaching can be reported to Operation Game Thief (877-265-6648 - toll free).

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for managing wildlife and its habitat, as well as providing wildlife related recreation. The Division is funded through hunting and fishing license fees, federal grants and Colorado Lottery proceeds through Great Outdoors Colorado.
