Lower Columbia Recovery Stakeholder Team meets in Troutdale
#1
SALEM, Ore -The stakeholder committee assembled to help develop a recovery plan for threatened and endangered salmon and steelhead in the Lower Columbia River basin will meet Jan. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the McMenamins Edgefield Manor, 2126 S.W. Halsey St., Troutdale.

The team will discuss preliminary management actions designed to achieve recovery of fish populations in the Youngs Bay/Big Creek, Clatskanie/Scappoose, Upper Gorge/Hood, and Sandy river basins. Continuing work from its last meeting, the team will also develop detailed management actions for fish populations in the Clackamas Basin.

Members of the stakeholder team represent watershed councils, agriculture, forestry, conservation, recreation, fishing, commerce, and utility interests and local and federal governments. The team has been meeting since last spring and has completed work on a recovery goal and objectives, and has identified and prioritized limiting factors and threats to recovery for all of the Lower Columbia fish populations. The identification of management actions to address these limiting factors and threats is the next key step in the preparation of the recovery plan.

Input from the stakeholder team will assist the State of Oregon and NOAA Fisheries in developing a recovery plan for the region of the Lower Columbia River that extends from Hood River to Astoria, upstream to Willamette Falls. Interested members of the public are invited to attend. Public comments will be taken at noon and at 3:15 pm.
