Strawberry 1-12-07 (Evening/Night)
#1
Hit the Berry Friday evening night with my father in law and a few buddies. We arrived around 3 pm, jumped on the sled and zoomed across the bay into no man's land. Parked about 300 yards from some others set up (looked like BLM - where you out there?)

Fishing was great from about 3-8 p.m. then DIED. Fish were coming through pretty steady and we were catching them here and there. It was tough setting up the shelters and trying to fish at the same time. Probably could have ice a few extras if it were for those.

Fishing was never lights out, but never stunk either (except after 8 p.m.). Overall we probably iced 25+ among 4 of us and lost/missed at least that many more.

We fished in 30' of water using the usual Berry gear with mealies and minnows. Near the end, the bite got ultra light. The kind where they don't bite and your line just "changes" a little bit (hair more pressure or slack, etc). It took some serious concentration to pop a few.

Ice was great- 8-10" of clear ice with about 2 inches of snow on top and SLICK. Crossing the bay on sled's was fine. Hit a little slush in the middle for maybe 20 yards. Weather was COLD, but we were comfy in the night setup. Left around 11 p.m. since the fishing was dead.

3-4 fish is all after 8 p.m. and they stopped "rolling through" on the fish finders. Probably would have moved deeper/shallow if we weren't hunkered down.
