Twenty-five years after the black-footed ferret was rediscovered in the wild, a successful captive-breeding program is giving the endangered animal a new lease on life. It’s a much needed second chance for this rare species. [#990000]

[cool][green]I read that article in the NWF magazine. I wouldn't mind having one of those characters as a pet. Know a few people that have a ferret as a pet. I don't know if they are legal to keep one in Ca. but a woman had one at the Vets the other week. Sure was cute. Might get into a bit of trouble if permitted to roam free in one's house.[/green]

lots of people have ferrets here in michigan, and I said farrets, aside from the stinkyness, strong musk glans. you have to have two, a male and a femail.

they are much like spock the vulcan on startrek. When it come time to mate, they over heat if they dont get a mate in time and die.... litteraly...

at one time it was leagle to hunt with ferrets here in mich, tho' I think now that pratice is banned. hunters used to run ferrets down rabbit holes to chase out the bunnies. now it is illegal to disterb a hole or den of any game animal. that includes leaf nest of squrils in trees.

If given the chance, they like to burrow up into the back of your couch or lazy boy, and nest. They can be a bugger to retrieve.

I have often thought a pack rat would make a great pet. I would train it to sort my dirty clothes, and move them about in piles according to chronology and need for washing [Tongue]
