Alot of times, you need to get you lures further down in the water to be successful. No matter what you're trolling for, getting the lures down can mean all the difference. Sure you could use a downrigger or a planer, but when you're high speed trolling, or maybe don't have that option, there's an easy way.
Take an 8 to 20 oz inline trolling lead and attach it to the leader a few feet above you lure. The weight will be determined by what your're trolling, how fast, and what weigth tackle you're using. The weight will give you a few more feet of depth while allowing you to troll at normal speeds. [cool]
