Slicker than snot on a door knob!! Bring cleats!! Use snowmobiles carefully until almost over to the east side!! 4-wheelers are useless!!
Great weather with a little breeze in the afternoons. We used pink, pink and white, and white Ice Cut'rs, Ratfinkees, and Mr. Twisters tipped with meal or wax worms. Splakes and bows would come around in schools and those who had double pole permits were in for a lot of fun. Fished near the Fish Lake and Bowery Lodges and on the east side across from Dr. Creek and overflow camping spot. Usually down 10-25' and in various depths up to 90'. Tons of perch in the weedbeds on almost anything, even one bare hook! Ice is about 12-15" and VERY noisy!!
The mountains have very, very little snow. I'm worried about the snowpack and runoff this year.

It was an erie feeling walking across the lake without any snow, and you are right about the noise. It moaned and groaned the whole time we were down there. Hopefully we get a miracle and get caught up on our snow.

We were too busy catching fish for pictures!![shocked]
Your minnows and chubs didn't get much use, Tube Dude. We caught almost everything on meal and wax worms, some of the meal worms were from Kokanee's son. (He really needs to get that fixed - take some medicine or something.) The splake and rainbows were 10-18" and the perch were smallish at 4-8", give or take an inch or two. No lake trout this time around and no big bragger fish.
Of course we missed a few really large ones that never made it to the hole or broke our lines. Those were in the 30-40" range and 15 pounds EASY!

[cool][#0000ff]Hey, you're a fisherman. Right? Why would anyone want to dispute your word?[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Whenever TubeBabe or myself "shake off" a fish before the size and species can be verified, we chant these anglers words: "A fish not yet seen can be whatever you want it to be."[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]In aa court of law we are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A fisherman is presumed to be truthful until proven otherwise. The burden of proof rests upon the scoffers and disbelievers. Let them disprove you.[/#0000ff]

Is it doable as a day trip? Also do you need a wheeler or sled to get to the good fishies?

We did a day trip last Saturday(2/10) and had a great time. We saw ATVs on the ice but to get past the weedline to get to the fishes (splake and perch), it was only a five-minute walk.
We left around 5:40 from Springville and was there close to 8. Drilled our first holes around 8:20 and had fish on by 8:25. Great fun for the whole family.
