Community Fishing: Bountiful Pond
#1
New guy here...

I'm thinking of taking the wife up for a bit of fishing at Bountiful Pond over the weekend--I'm told there's some fun bass action up there. Does anybody have any idea how it's been up there or have any tips on where to go & what to use?

[cool][#0000ff]No recent reports on the board but I have heard of a few folks ice fishing it. Not much besides planted rainbows.

Bountiful Pond is never what you would call a bass lake. There are a few in there, but they get caught out (and kept) faster than they can be planted.

During the summer there are some catfish planted but they also usually don't last a full week before being "harvested".

It is supposed to be a place for kids and diSadvantaged adults to fish. But, many of the locals follow the hatchery trucks and go back several times a day to catch as many as they can before someone else does.

Thanks for the insight TubeDude...too bad people treat it like that and keep so many. Maybe we'll head out to Pineview instead; never tried the ice there yet!

[cool][#0000ff]Pineview probably offers a better chance at catching some fish, but it has not been as productive lately either. Also, the reports say that the ice is getting iffy around the edges, even though there is still thick ice on the lake. Take a plank and be careful.

Cemetery point has still been producing a few perch, but no big ones. Haven't heard any reports from the Narrows lately.

I ice fished it on January 7th for an hour. I moved around and drilled several holes and even with fishing with two rods I couldn't get a bite. I got a few followers was all. With the recent warm weather, and with all of the rain, I doubt that it has safe ice.
