this isnt what i planned to do,but winter was running out.my main plan was to split the boat, and replace all the stringers, and put in a new floor, and foam fill the bottom, and gellcoat the entire boat.well this will be next year.for now ,i got tired of looking at the old paint falling off so i am going to give it a quiky paint job.this is on a 1969 sebre trihull.since it not left in the water,i am useing plain old gloss white automotive paint.i am not takeing everything off, just going to tape it off, next year it will be completly stripped

I could see the sanding in the original photo, I was just kidding,
looks like you have put in quite a number of hours of hand sanding, stripping off everything loose and roughing and smoothing every thing that isnt...
I see those flakes, they'd make kellog proud and realy give o'l Tony something to shout about...
It looks real good for being a salt water boat. I dont see any scales or barnicals....
You mentioned you were going to split the boat, I was wondering how it comes apart.

the reason why there is no barnacles is because i dont keep it in the water it stays on the trailer at home.if i kept it at a marina then it would be loaded
all fiberglass boats have a seam where the hull and top piece meet.the seam it covered by a trim piece. in my case the seam is where the black rubber trim run around the side of the boat.
take that off,go around to make sure it isnt attached anywhere else.and dissconnect any wires and the steering, place a couple 2x4s under the cap,to lift from, and pull off

That's a sweet looking tri hull dude. I've never seen one with such a high bow before. [cool] My dad has one of those old school glassmasters with like a 135 horse merc on it. Yeah, a 135. LOL
Those things are wicked stable in the water. Keep us up to date Tom, i'd liked to see the process. I was thinking of painting my boat next. [unsure] Not sure if I want to tackle that or not.

well the neighbor was doing some yard cleaning and passed them on to me,
inventory, A-Frame - Axil with wheel barings and leaf springs - Wench - wench tung - one tire with wheel - 8 or 10 lug bolts (didnt count but all the lug holes are filled) - half dozen or so cross members - 4 carpeted runner boards - couple old worn out rollers - runner board brackets.. that is a quick inventory with out takeing time to realy look at it, I threw it in the back of the traler I built for my quad to pull, It snowed two inches last night so I didnt get a chance to look and realy take stock...
I figure about $150-250 to rebuild to suit, weather I turn it back in to a boat traler or a trailor for my quad.
If I go with a quad trailer, it Needs bolts - u-bolts, heavyer crossmembers - lumber - tung jack - Lights and wireing - carpeting - drop down bunk for deer camp.
the axil is wide enough for my quad and room to spair.
I will have to look and skeim a bit, see how light and solid I can build it. I would like to make it all inclosed, but I dont know what kind of materials are available. If I can swing it, I can turn it in to a deer blind trailer, I just love multi tasking....
I want to pull it with my truck
I want it to hold my quad
I want to pull it with my quad
I want to sleep in it at deer camp
I want to use it as my deer blind
just hope I am not asking to much of the axil...

closer inspection of the trailer, Leaf spring is broke on both sides.
axle bar dose not go all the way though
frame is lighter than my other boat trailer with the 12 foot light weight aluminum boat.
after inspection the rulling is, I can put it back to gether, I can make it better faster stronger than it was new, how ever even so, it will never be nothing more than a lawn trailer.

Great job Tom. I know you'll be glad to get it finished. It really does look so much better. What color are you going with?
I was looking at the windshield, are you going to redo those? They look a little worn. [cool]

I thought I told ya to stop watching Alfred Hitchcoc with 3-D glasses? [angelic]
I was going to ask what collor to, but I wanted to be suprized....
I worked on mine today, didnt make it out of bed till noon so I didnt get to go fishing this morning.
I grabed my radio and tuned in the tiger season opening game and began the task of gutting the boat.
I started with the soaking decaying leaves and sticks of which I got two wheelbarols full,
I lifted the tung proping it on a higher grade in hopes of getting the boat to drain while I worked on pulling the seats.
then I started working on removing the seats. now in this particular modle the seats have cells underneith that are filled with blocks of styrofome. I worked on dropping those sections of the seats first.
you talk about getting grosed out, mise had made home in the seats foam filling, and pissed every where... After the gag attack and removing the other seats fome and finding the same thing and having another gag attack I through the fome in to the fire pit... that is where it will sit untill after a couple rains... I aint sticking those stinky things back in my boat !!! and I aint sticking them in to my trash cans untill most of the stench is gone... I dont want to have to clean out the trash can either [shocked]
I did then after lightning up from a dark shade of green to a lighter shade of pale green pulled the seat boards...
Did I mention that I marked the seat boards before removing them? well I did and I marked which way was the front of the boat...-
if these seat are not cut to match the new boards will not go in and will not suport the hull of the boat. that right, the seat boards are part of the suport of the boat.
the boards were tight coming out of thier slots and using a hammer to nock them out with out using any protection against damage, the wood was crushed to about one inch in from the edge.. held up better than I expected... but a good wave or hammering of the hull while out on the water would deffinantly have cause the boad to collaps eventualy. posibly even to the point of sinking...
once I had all the hard wear removed and the boards put away for use as my blue print in some near future... I focused my attention to the not so draining bottom of the boat.
well another draw back of letting your boat fill with grabage is that the gutters get plugged, and what I mean by that is, the rips of the boat on the floor have filled with junk causing it to not drain.
I tryed to flush out the ribs with the garden hose, but there just isnt enough presure. so before I can put the seats back on I need to take the boat to the hand car wash to use the high presure washing guns there in hopes of cleaning the rips that way.
but before I can get the boat to the car wash I still have to rewire the trailer, and before I can rewire the trailer I have to find yet another blown fuse in my truck, last night I found I had no back up lights. ARRRDGGG
so now I get to go lumber shopping...
[ol] [li]any one got any tips of what to use for seat board?[/li][/ol]
[ol] [li]can any one suggest a good finish for the seat boards?[/li] [ul] [li]I am leaning to tomsons water seal[/li][/ul][/ol]
