Mesa, AZ - The Tonto Basin team of Nancy and Andy Shelton weighed a six-bass limit totaling 15.25 pounds to win the AllStar Bass Couples Tournament held at Bartlett Lake on Saturday, March 17. They received checks totaling $2,239 plus the First Place trophy.
The AllStar Bass 2006 SuperCouple champions fished Texas-rigged soft plastics and crankbaits on mainlake points to catch their limit that included a 4.35-pounder. The team is sponsored by Pace Pacific Corp., Highway 188 Tackle Shop, and The Tackle Box in Tonto Basin.
Second place went to the Cottonwood team of Jennifer and Wes McCracken for a limit weighing 15.05 pounds including a 4.62-pounder. The AllStar Bass 2006 Couple of the Year fished crankbaits on secondary points and flats in coves. They received $850. The team is sponsored by Champion Boats and Tempe Marine.
The Phoenix team of Angela and Mark DiBrito took third place with a limit weighing 13.91 pounds including a 4.78-pounder. They received a total of $1,550. The father-daughter team fished jigs and drop-shot rigs on mainlake points. The team is sponsored by Nitro Boats, Mercury Outboards, Tracker Marine Boating Center, and Cactus Ridge Builders.
Fourth place went to the Phoenix team of Tree and Jeff Pfundheller for a limit weighing 13.43 pounds including a 4.36-pounder and pocketed $400. They fished spinnerbaits, jigs and Texas-rigged worms down to 20 feet in the Yellow Cliffs and Bartlett Flats areas. The team is sponsored by Code One Construction, Martin Marine, and Fisherman's Choice Pro Shops.
Another Phoenix team took fifth place and $600. Kathy and Gary Senft weighed a limit totaling 13.40 pounds. They fished crankbaits, jigs and drop-shot worms on mainlake points. The team is sponsored by Nitro Boats, Mercury Outboards, Tracker Marine Boating Center, and The Tackle Box in Tonto Basin.
Rounding out the top teams were Yolanda and Murray White, Glendale, with 12.77 pounds worth $250; Chantel Huff and Jayson Durocher, Cave Creek, 12.17 pounds, $459; Amy and Lyle Dalby, Apache Junction, 12.08 pounds, $170; Licia Graffa, Queen Creek, and Todd Graffa, Gold Canyon, 11.56 pounds, $160; and Judy Chaney, Tucson, and Lanny Wilson, Phoenix, 11.53 pounds, $155.
