I'm finally in town this week and planing my annual trek to browns park this coming thur-sat. (my favorite trip every year) Just wondering if anyone has been down there or by there and would know if red creek run off conditions has muddied the water? I will see if I can call jarvie ranch tomarrow and see, but also wanted to extend an invite to those who might want to venture down. We have a group who goes every year at this time, and we have a great time whether the fishing is good or not. So if anyone wants to give it a try, bring lots of repalas, and a share of ingredience for our chicken fajita cook, and meet some new freinds , or make some new enemy's , what ever you like, just do it well. Red Creek is putting out quite a load bro. almost nobody is floating B because of it, but I imagine the C is fishing alright. There's not near the amount of people down there too. I live in dutch john, but have never fished the C. probably check it out tomorrow and give you a report. Little hole and the spillway have been fishing well though. Big black and ginger buggers have slayed them for me, or throw the standard nymphs in the smallest sizes you own and get into 'em that way. Not many if any bwo's yet, but plenty of midges. Hopefully I'll have a good report for you in a few days. Stop in at the Flaming Gorge Lodge and ask around. You may even see me in the fly shop...

Thanks anthony, I generally hit browns park every year about this time. If red creek is'nt muddy'n up the water much I've always done well. I would much rather fish the c section than the A or B anytime. The browns seem to have a larger averge size, And you mostly fish alone and with much better access. It takes a little time fishing it to know where some of the better holes are, and it can be spotty at times. However early spring has always been good to me. And its the one time of the year I useually put away the fly rod infavor of repalas.( the large browns get very active down there right now) Man if I lived in dutch john I'd be down there every day. If you do make it down there let me know the conditions. Red creek can spoil the best laid plans, and run off seems a bit early this year, I'm hoping this weeks colder weather will slow it down. Those colder days (no run off) between warmer days can be red hot !!
Thanks again Lonnie

I fished it for an hour or two on monday lonnie. It was less than stellar, but maybe I'm just used to catching lots of fish cuz I fish the A and B a lot. I caught a brown on a wooly, and hooked up with some smaller bows and whitefish nymphing. It was probably just slow for me because I like to fish the riffles and other quick water, and there was A LOT of slow water where I was at. I had to walk a long ways to find any reasonable place to dredge the deep. I ended up just sight fishing streamers to bank hugging browns. All in all, it was an ok day. Not quite the clarity down there as there is above, kinda milky, but there were some torpedoes spotted. You ought to do well with rapalas. Good Luck Man, and come prepared with everything you'll need, it snowed some last night, and it looks as if it will again.

Thank anthony! The c section is an area you have to learn where some of the favored ripples for fly's are ,they are there, however most of the good ones require a little hiking, there is about 15-20 miles of river access there but knowing some of the better stretches is a hugh advantage, if you chose to go again in the future pm me and I'll do my best to help you out. (I've been fisshing it for 40 yrs. and there are some excellant fly waters) If you want some real fun with a fly rod head down later in the summer and think streamers, terestials and anything that imitates a small frog, along with your usual assortment of dry's and imergers. From the terrain you can guess there is no small abundance of insect life in summer down there. Thanks again Lonnie

dude. I can't believe it. I wonder how all the cronies on UOTF will feel about this....
...please tell me that you at least tie the rapala to your fly rod? Or, maybe not. Just don't tell me...
....maybe you're the wrong Lonnie all together....

I must be the wrong Lonnie because I have no idea what your talking about. I'm certainly no fly elitist (I believe in using what ever is catching fish) however I also love to fly fish, and have no idea what the other site you mentioned is. sorry Lonnie
