There was no ice on the lake, but the water is slightly stained and high. It is about 3 feet from going over the spillway.
I started fishing just before 10 am (late start) and finished at 3:30. I caught 17 bows with a few around 19" long.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a great day for early season. How was the wind?

DTH,
Thanks for the report. I'm glad that I was wrong about the ice situation.

No problem FG. I was glad you were wrong too, but was actually hoping for a little ice.
As for the wind, it beat the @#$% out me but the fishing was well worth it. I might go again on Sunday. Hopefully the water clarity has not become worse. If so, I'll have to hit Deep Creek.

DTH,
I just tried to attach a photo and couldn't figure it out so maybe one of the helpers can clue me in when they get a chance. Anyway, I fished Daniels today (3-30-07) and landed 10 (or so) and lost about that many more dragging flies on lead line. The water quality was not good and surface temperature was 41 F. The fish were distributed throughout with most below the 20' mark although I couldn't catch them that deep. There were lots of big ones showing on the finder but I caught nothing over 19.5" and only one of that size.
Weston looked really clear and ice free as did Deep Creek. I didn't have time to fish them however. Devil Creek looked OK from the highway and no boats were on it yet. The weekend croud was starting to arrive at Daniels so it will get pounded pretty good this weekend.
