Well I took all four of my sons out for a test drive of the new trolling motor. It was a great day. That new motor will really make fishing more enjoyable. The auto-pilot feature is really sweet. We caught 7 for the day. All rainbows between 14-17". They made for a great fish fry dinner. The youngest (he is 5) out fished us all again catching 3 the oldest (21) caught 2 and the other two caught one a piece. We trolled Deer Creek over by the RR tracks and threw everything at them including pop gear, cripple-lures, humdingers and crank baits. The rainbow pattern flatfish was the most productive. Most fish were found 10-15' deep. We fished from 9:30 - 1:00 then the W got serious and we left. I forgot the camera so no pics sorry.

Sounds like Autopilot is the way to go. How many pound thrust did you end up going with?

We saw a half dozen other boats trolling and a few others that looked like they were targeting Bass near the rocks on the west side. It did not look like any of them were getting any HOT action.

I have a 22' ponton and was worried about underpowering it so I bought the 101 lb. thrust minnkota (36 volt ) It did a very good job. I got the one with auto pilot and plan on adding the copilot later. It was very easy to operate and the pedal reached all the way to the back of the boat. We trolled for 3 1/2 hrs straight with the autopilot on and used 1/4 of the battery. It is variable speed and was set on 5 most of the time.

Well that sounds like a fun day on the lake. I have said this before and I say it again. Those who don't "know" how to fish a paticular body of water usually do well. Somtimes us "pros" can take lessons from a five year old.
Glad to hear the fish are still shallow. Seeing that I am a little slow getting my tube out for the year.
Thanks for the report.
