I headed out today for only an hour to make myself feel better after failing a test. I caught 25 in the hour between 10-11, then left for lunch. All white bass, all between 8-10", but one 15". I tossed them all back or gave them to other less fortunates who weren't catching. All were caught on a gold spinner. I took my camera for pictures, but when I tried to turn it on, I realized the batteries were dead. bummer.

[cool][#0000ff]Congrats on your success...but you need to be careful you don't get a ticket. It is illegal to give fish away to others while on the water.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, I know it seems harmless to hand off a few white bass to someone else. It ain't like you are going to depopulate Utah Lake.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, the language in the regulations is pretty clear. It states that you can only transfer (give away) game fish (like white bass) at either your residence or the other angler's residence...or at a frozen food locker, etc. And, whenever you do give away fish there must be a signed document stating what you transfered and listing your fishing license information.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]This does not totally stop the cooler clowns who insist on filling their limits on every trip, freezing the fish and then dumping them or giving them away to make room for more. But, the intent of the law is to prevent large groups of people to all fish together and for the "luckier" ones to help fill the limits for those who aren't so lucky...or who just buy a license so they can take home a limit of fish. It happens.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I'm sure your intentions were honorable. But, you should always be aware of what is in the proclamation. Not knowing of the law would not be an acceptable excuse if a conservation officer observed you handing off a fish.[/#0000ff]
