Got off work at 12:30 pm and decided to make a short run to Lindon Bay. The wind was dead still when I got there. Decided to go north behind the dumping station. Things started out good. Three whites in about 10 minutes. Then things changed! Nature call with waders on. Eased over to shallow water to take care of business, then it hit the fan. Lost a fin in the cattails. After probing the shallows with a fishing rod i came up empty. What to do now? Decided that trying to reach down would be a waste of time as the water would fill my waders if I bent over too far. I thought I would just forget it and paddle back with one fin. Wrong! I was about as successful in this as a one legged man at a B_ _ T kicking. Back to looking for the fin. Took about 30 minutes to find. Waders full of cold water! Do you happen to know how hard it is to navigate with 2 gallons of water in each leg? During this whole adventure there was 3 mud hens circling me like Indians around a wagon train. I could almost hear them laughing! Finally make it back to the truck with no other mishaps. It was a real adventure. No pics and no witnesses.

If we didn't have bad days, we might not enjoy the good ones so much. At least you caught a few! What were they hitting on?
No witnesses? Some stories are better left untold!

You just think there were no witnesses. I bet they got ya candid camera at the transfer station. Glad ya made it back safely. I keep tellin myself to invest in tethers for my fins. But I never do, haven't lost one yet but have benn close a couple of time. My boy just kick barefooted most of the time. That would give me a heart attack!

[cool][#0000ff]You mighta just won the hard luck story contest...if we were having one yet.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]As I always say, ya gotta have some drama to make a good trip. Nobody wants to read "Went fishing, caught fish, went home."[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Glad you found the fin. That happened to TubeBabe last year coming in at Lincoln Beach. Fortunately she had her "fin finder" (me) nearby and we recovered the culprit. If you lose one in deep water you are in deep doo doo. No way to navigate with only one fin...or no fins...especially if the W comes up.[/#0000ff]

Don't let that little problem just be a good story and memory, use it as a learning experience, and tie those fins on.

As I read your story, I keep thinking, does he have oars?, a motor?, will he go in for the fin?
It was like I was there with you. Good descriptive writing of the situation.
