Me, Jacksonman, and our wives headed to scofield for a bit of spawning rainbow action yesterday. We put in by the dam around 4:00 and left our wives on shore. We tried flies and rapalas, but nothing until we got to the point of the bay, where theres some submereged brush along shore. The tigers were in there thick! Right off shore, about 15' out. They hit the rapalas about 5 feet from our tubes. The fight was only about 2 seconds long, but it was still a fight gettin those things in your hands. We stuck around the area for abot 20 mins until our wives begged us to some back to them, so we landed 4 and head back to shore. The wives hadn't caught anything from shore so we took them to the river. My wife caught a brown, maybe 7" long, and I caught 2 browns, the first maybe 6" and the second about 12". My wife loved it, seeing the fish follow the lure all the way in. Jackonsman and his wife got nothing on the fly rods, so after about 45 mins, we went back to shore to cook up our foil dinners. I headed back to the brush area and waded out to my waist in water and cast the same rapala. In 30 mins I landed 3 more tigers. They were rising all around me, inches from me even. I wish there was more daylight. I left the water only beacuse I couldn't see my rod tip anymore. i said I'd fish until it was too dark, and that's what I did. A great day of fishing for all. We cooked up one of the tigers over the fire, man was it good. Even with no seasonings. The ice was still covering about half the lake when we arrived, but when we left a good chunk had defrosted. I'd say in a few more days it should be completely gone, should the weather stay constant. Heres some pics for your enjoyment.
