Looking for some good help...
#1
Where to start, ok. I was approached by an Ogden city rep today because i am president of a small irrigation company off of the Ogden River. They were hoping i had a small army of volunteers that could maybe help out with a project on the River Parkway. Seems they are getting geared up for the Ogden city Marathon and are doing some cleanup along the river and spit-shining some of the areas on the park way. In-particularly the Rodeo Grounds stadium wall facing the river. They are supplying all the paint, brushes, rollers, and high rise scaffolds, but need volunteers. I see this as a good chance to help clean up and help a stretch of river that has been vandalized (gang tagging and such) and make it more enjoyable to fish this stretch again. I know there are a few of the die hard fly fishermen and anglers that love to hit the Ogden River, Please if you can, come help. Maybe we can put together a BBQ in the park after we get the painting done.
I will post again soon with a date, I know the marathon is on the 18th, so before then.

Ok, found out some more this morning. One of the projects they are looking for help on is Primering the backside of Pioneer Stadium along the river, there will be a mural painted there soon that is being done as a competition in Ogden city schools. Also (this i find a little strange) but they want to paint the baseball field Backstop fence at Lorin Farr silver so that it looks newer and nice. When i mentioned to Jan that i posted asking for help on a fishing forum, she told me as fishermen (and women) we may know of other areas of overgrowth and trashed areas that that the city doesn't. They could supply us with any heavy equipment and even dumpsters and such if we address the areas.
If a few of us would like to help with the Baseball backstop fence, I was thinking on the 12th, that won't take long at all, Primering for the mural may be a bigger job and we would need some more people for that. Any input from our local fishermen on some of their favorite areas that need some attention can also be addressed and we can organize a work party. Let's see if we can help turn this into a nice place to fish again, I know every time i go out back on the river i end up picking up alot of trash, and it has bummed me out to see this stretch neglected. Let me know who can help on the 12th, and then anyone who has other areas that they have found on the river let me know so we can get something going.
