Weber Wednesday
#1
Decided to fish the Weber today for the first time ever for a few hours after work. Went to the area just downstream of Coalville. A little midge hatch was coming off but very little insect activity. A few fish managed to rise to what was hatching. I ended up catching 5 fish, and losing almost as many. I caught 3 browns from minnow size up to about 12 or 13 inches. Also managed one rainbow about 13 inches and a whitefish about 14 inches. 4 fish fell to a sz 18 or 20 flashback PT nymph and one took a sz 16 or 18 beadhead hares ear.

Saw a moose on I-80 near the golfcourse on the way up...pretty cool! Also saw some guys bowfishing where the Weber flows out of Echo. I could see carp rolling as well. Might be worth a go for you stick-flingers!!!!

I absolutely plan to hit the Weber again! I've been told to fish much higher up than where I went. I've heard below Rockport and below Smith-Morehouse are very good areas. Just wish I knew the river better!

I have heard very good reports of that area too. problem is all the private land in that area makes for difficult access or pay through the nose to fish an area. The fish tend to be bigger below rockport to Coalville.

I like surprises! [cool] I'll probably hit the Weber again or the Provo this week after work.
