Willard and a big ol' eye!
#1
[black] [/black]Fished willard today from about 1:30 to almost dark with my son and cajun1977. We fished the sw corner trolling rattle raps in chrome and whatever. We caught 10 wipers with the largest about 22" and i nailed one of 2 walleye i had hooked that went almost 23" and 4#! Could not believe it. On a flat in the middle of nowhere. As i type this it is melting in my mouth... Water temp was colder than last week at about 65.5* most of the day. Fished depths from 6' to 15'. Most fish were in 10' Pics tomorrow.

I obviously missed this one LH2 [crazy].. Nice Eye -n- Wiper!

You mentioned taking the fish in the middle of a big flat.... that sounds similar to my Lake Winnebago Eyes later in the year. We run out there in the mud flats quite a bit chasing Eyes that are on the hunt.. pure vagabonds at times.

Willad has absolutely no structure in it. It is manmade and the dike is built of rocks but the water is so low the rocks are high and dry. The only thing the fish can do is suspend. No rhyme or reason as to where they decide to do it. These fish came from about 6' of 8' of water.

For some reason, reports from Willard still spark an interest in me. I used to live in UT and Willard was pretty much one of the closest spots to go tubing at in the late 70s.

Back then we wouldn't call it Float Tubing. We would call it "Dunking a Donut" since float tubes only came in the Round shape.[cool]
