Outdoors Education Programs Offered

The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife conducts a series of workshops for those interested in becoming involved in wildlife-related activities or improving and expanding their outdoors skills. Known as the New Jersey Outdoors Program, workshops are offered to families as well as individuals, at little or no cost (there is a $15 registration fee, refundable upon arrival for a workshop).

New Jersey Outdoors for Everyone - June 16 - 8:00 am - 4:30 pm NJ Fish and Wildlife Southern Region Office, Camden County, Sicklerville, NJ Open to everyone from 10 years of age and up. Participants have a choice of two three-hour sessions and can choose from Introductory Archery, Freshwater Fishing (license required), Introductory Shotgun Shooting or Fish Preparation From Hook to Plate (you get to sample some fish).

New Jersey Outdoors for Everyone - June 16 - 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm Assunpink Wildlife Management Area, Monmouth County, NJ Introductory Kayak Fishing - (No kayak experience needed although you must purchase a 2007 NJ Fishing License.

New Jersey Outdoors for Women - June 24 - 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Oxford Furnace Lake, Warren County, Oxford, NJ Introductory Kayak Fishing - (No kayak experience needed although you must purchase a 2007 NJ Fishing License. Open to women only at least 18 years old. Participants have a choice of attending either the morning session (9-noon) or the afternoon session (noon - 4:30 pm).

New Jersey Outdoors for Women - June 24 - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Pequest Trout Hatchery, Warren County, Oxford, NJ Women's Fly Fishing Clinic - An introductory class on Fly-Fishing. Open to women only at least 16 years old. The morning session will cover equipment, lines and leaders, knots and matching the hatch. The afternoon session will cover casting lessons and fishing on the Pequest Education Pond. For beginners or those seeking a refresher course. All instructors are members of Trout Unlimited. Equipment is also provided, however, if you have your own equipment feel free to use it.
