Fishing for smallmouth was good today near Dutch John Draw and Cedar Springs. We didn't start until around 10:30am and were off the water by about 2:00pm. We caught most of our fish on curly tail Yamamoto grubs in black w/ silver flake and green w/ black flake on a 3/8 oz. jig head. Bring lots of grubs! It's hard to make a grub tail last more than a fish or two. A few smallies were also enticed using a cicada fly imitations, casted close to shore.
Fish were shaded up, holding near rock in shallow water or down deeper in 20-30 ft of water to escape the intense sunlight. We caught several small ones but a couple pushed 10-12 inches. Water temps ranged from 64-66 F. Hope it helps!
