After three weather cancellations this winter, Paul Greenberg’s group from New York, NY finally got to the bank on a very foggy morning this Saturday. The seas were calm, however the water temperature is about as cold as it ever gets in our area. As a result, there is very little bait in evidence on the shoal-water. Hopefully, the bait will move in when the water warms through the spring.

The group got off to a slow start in 200 feet of water on the east side of the bank using jigs and teaser rigs. However, after changing to clam baits the group started catching good numbers of “Market” cod between 8 and 12 pounds. The cod were tight to the bottom grubbing. 4 to 5 cod that came over the rails were in the 15-pound class. The pool-winner tipped the scales at 33 pounds and the runner-up was 22 pounds. Many of the other boats in the fleet were also boating cod in the 20-30 pound class.
