Eye repair question
#1
I recently purchased a rod through ebay and when I received it, the inner "liner" on two of the eyes (including tip) are missing. I thought about replacing the eyes all together, but they appeared to be taped and epoxied. Is it possible to just replace the inner lining ring on the eyes? If not, how would you remove the taped and epoxied eyes? Any assistance would be appreciated!

I don't think you can replace the inner ring. it would be best to replace the guides. the guides are wrapped on with a nylon thread and then epoxy in applied. you can cut the thread with a very sharp knife or a #11 exacto blabe, cut where the thread meets the guide. once you get it cut you can find a end and pull it all off in one long piece. just be careful not to nick the rod. most of the epoxy will come off, but you might have to chip off some of the pieces.
you'll want the rod to be smooth when you put the new guide on.
hope this helps, if you need more info just drop me a PM or post back here. later chuck
