Fly Fishing Trip Advice?
#1
Thinking of doing a 3 to 5 day trip next week. Any suggestions for a good place to camp/flyfish with lots of rising fish. I'm open to the surrounding states as well. Anyone been anywhere fun lately?

Thanks,

Justin

The Uinta's always has rising fish and many places to fish for them but they are generally fairly small. The boulders is another place with alot of rising fish. Yellowstone is always a good bet for surface action too.

come down and fish the Green river. Great action for me lately, mostly with a chernobyl ant or beetle, but grasshoppers, crickets, and ants get their fair share of attention as well. Nymphing has also been consistent, and streamer fishing is good mornings and evenings. You could rent a raft for a few days, and camp down below little, as camping is not allowed on the first seven miles (A section).

What Anthony said!!! Can't miss on the Green. Fish below Little Hole, and even on "C" section if we don't have a lot of rain.

If you want to be somewhere else or further away, consider the South Fork of the Snake in Idaho. Still a fairly short drive, lots of river, camping on the river or at nearby campgrounds, and rising fish during the mid-day hours. You do need a boat or floating craft for the good fishing, as there isn't a lot of wadeable water unless you float to it.

A spot to think about in colorado would be the white river near Meeker. There are several public sections of river going up county road 8 east of town. Most of the camp grounds are from about 20 miles up to trappers lake. It's easy to wade and there are some very large fish. If you are into still water there are a number of lakes in the area. The only real problem with it is you have to catch the white fish out of the way to get to the brown, rainbows and cutts. If you just like to have something pulling on the line, this isn't a real problem at all.
