Pipestem Resort State Park has recently hired Phil Wiechman as the PGA Professional for its golf course operation. Mr. Wiechman was the former golf professional and greenskeeper at the Brier Patch in Beckley and has served in similar capacities at a number of courses both in West Virginia and elsewhere. His new duties include not only management of all Pipestem Pro Shop operations but will also encompass technical advisory responsibilities for golf programs at all state park golf courses. Pipestem Resort State Park Superintendent Steve Bolar says, "We are excited about having someone with such a wealth of golf experience and knowledge. From his college years at Wake Forest with Arnold Palmer to his time at the Logan Country Club and Brier Patch, Phil has built a great reputation that should be a perfect fit in our state park operation."
Wiechman replaces PGA Professional Bill Roberson, who retired in April after 33 years of service.
