[#000000]The World Debate is one of BBC World's flagship debate programmes which looks at the key issues affecting the world today. Chaired by BBC World presenter Zeinab Badawi, this week's debate comes from the World Bank in Washington D.C. and explores the most important things that developing countries can do to improve the lives of their poorest citizens. Zeinab asks a panel of guests including Professor Jagdish N. Bhagwati of Columbia University; Ashraf Ghani, the former Afghan finance minister; and Paul Skinner, the chairman of Rio Tinto plc, whether is it simply a case of good governance or should they embrace what some describe as the 'economic path', taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by globalisation and trade?[/#000000]
