I would like to buy a friend a nice cooler for his boat. I am looking at Igloo and YETI and wondered if anyone had any ideas on a good brand and what I should be looking for? We live in FL and he does mostly offshore fishing so it needs to be tough and withstand the sun and salt. I also wondered what a good size would be for most uses? Is 95Q big enough or do I need to go larger? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

I would ask questions such as:
- How long will he be offshore? Full day? Overnight?
- What will the cooler be used for? Food? Drinks? Storing fish?
Depending on how much you want to spend, you can get a smaller, inexpensive cooler or you can get some that are very expensive and made specifically for marine use. Some will keep ice from completely melting for up to 14 days but then you're sacrificing space inside the cooler for the extra insulation.
Take a look at the marine coolers, then the camping coolers, and then make a decision. One marine cooler that I'm impressed with (and one day I will be able to afford) is the DownUnder USA coolers sold by Angler's Center (see the ad somewhere on this page). It even has a watertight seal on the lid.
