Cascade report?
#1
I'm heading to Cascade later this week and was wondering if anybody has heard any recent trout reports? I usually fish anywhere from the dam to the south end of the lake, but am open to other spots. Thanks

Yes, we fished Cascade yesterday. Bank fished south of the golf course on a point. Had regular action for 12-14" trout. They are real tight to the shore. Don't go beyond 15'. All they seemed to be interested in was red anise flavored 'mallows. When they would knock them off and they floated to the surface, they would follow them up and continue to hit them on the surface. We talked to several fishermen down by the dam, and none had fish. The fish averaged about 13-14". Bring plenty of marshmallows. They were tough to hook, even though they were hitting with a vengeance. It is so beautiful up there right now it would have been worth the trip even if we had struck out. P.S.: the bite was consistent from daybreak on throughout the day. Mike

My dad and I fished Cascade on Thursday. We arrived at daybreak and fished south of the golf course until about noon and caught two trout, both about 13 inches. There were a few others through out the morning but nobody else was catching any. It was fairly windy. Eventually we went up by the dam. In about three hours there we caught three more trout, all about 12-13 inches. There was quite a few people lined up there, and I saw a few of them having success. About a year ago we fished near the golf course and each limited in about four hours. I was hoping for those kinds of results, but not this time. As my dad would say, that's why they call it fishing instead of catching. I did get to hear some good old stories about my dad salmon fishing with his dad about 35+ years ago at the coast. While the catching wasn't real great, it was still a good trip.

Wow! What a difference a few days make. We returned to Cascade on Sunday, and fished it from before daybreak until about 11:00. Had one strike. On last Monday, we never went more than 10-15 minutes without a hit. Maybe the full moon did us in, and you also. We watched a couple of HUGE trout rolling out by our rigs, but nothing. There were probably 15 people fishing in our area (compared to none on Monday) and only one fish was caught.
