Camp Compass Academy Founder earns national honor
#1
ALLENTOWN, PA - The Emily Post Foundation has recognized Pennsylvania school teacher John Annoni, whose Camp Compass Academy introduces inner city youngsters from middle school through high school to the outdoors. On Sept. 24, the foundation honored Annoni and 99 others for their good works as part of "National Thank You Day." Annoni is one of more than 12,000 nominated for the honor this year.

"Being chosen from among so many nominees is pretty cool," said Annoni, who teaches in the Allentown School District. "And it's very humbling to see, through an award like this, that Camp Compass' efforts to save kids are gaining momentum and being noticed nationally - and beyond the traditional outdoor industry."

The Post Foundation, with support from merci® Finest Assortment of European Chocolates, uses National Thank You Day to recognize people whose good deeds help and inspire others. The event falls annually on the last Monday of September.

"The simple words 'thank you' have the power to make our world a more civil place," said etiquette expert and best-selling author Peggy Post, of the institute. "When you express appreciation, you can't help but notice its positive impact."

Annoni developed Camp Compass Academy to provide a true mentoring program for inner-city youngsters to become involved in fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. Mossy Oak currently provides support for the academy and its programs.
