Experience A Wonderland Of Winter Activities At The Calvert Marine Museum
#1
With winter just around the corner, the Calvert Marine Museum has been busy planning a host of events to help our community beat the winter blues.

On Thursday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m., Drew McMullen will give the final lecture in the John Smith series. Drew McMullen is the president of the Sultana Project in Chestertown, Maryland. The John Smith lecture series was funded through a grant from the National Park Service Chesapeake Bay Gateways Program, which will be honored at this event. Prior to the lecture, there will be a book signing. Chesapeake: Exploring the Water Trail of Captain John Smith by John Page Williams serves as both a guide book and a history to help modern boaters explore the water trail. Williams, a naturalist for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, served as the naturalist for the water trail. Chesapeake reveals the fascinating story of Smith's journeys, the impact of the human footprint on the bay's complex life systems, and the best ways for us to explore and respect this rich natural wonder in our midst. Chesapeake Bay of Light: An Exploration of the Chesapeake Bay's Wild and Forgotten Places with photography by Ian J. Plant and essays by Tom Horton is a 'must have' addition for anyone who appreciates the beauty of this remarkable estuary. John Page Williams, Ian Plant, and Tom Horton will be signing their books starting at 6:00 p.m. in the museum lobby. Books are available for sale in the Museum Store. This event is free. No reservations are being accepted, however seating is limited. For more information, visit www.calvertmarinemuseum.com>www.calvertmarinemuseum.com or call 410-326-2042 ext. 32.
