A couple of co-workers who know my addiction to fishing were asking me about this article in the Provo Herald. I didn't know anything about it, and looked it up. We all know that Utah Lake is in some serious trouble if things stay the same. As some of you know, I am just getting into fishing for the warmwater species. I am planning on making my home here in Utah Valley and want this lake to survive, even improve. Here is a link to two articles that we fisherfolk might want to look into more:

I need to educate myself some more on what I can do. If enough of us get together with other interested parties we might be able to do something about it. The first article implies that the farmers on the north drainage of Utah Lake will soon not be able to use the Lake for irrigation because of salinity problems. At first I thought, "good, what goes around comes around." Then I started wondering if the farmers can now be used as leverage to help the fishery. Politicians like to help the farmer.
I've sat on the sidelines long enough. Its time for me to get more involved so that my children can go "stick some fish" out of Utah Lake when they are older.
See you on the water!
