Lower Provo 2-22-08
#1
[cool]Hit the lower Provo on Thursday. Snow was deep and it got pretty windy but there was an monster hatch of some sort. They were not BWO's but about the same size and black all over. They looked just like mosquitos. They were hanging all over the snow and were smattered all over the water. The fish were slurping them up right and left. Griffiths gnats worked pretty well but with the flat light and wind it was damned hard to keep an eye on it. We fished just above the tunnel by the Sundance turn off. The highlight of the day was seeing a nice bull elk across the river up on the hillside. Also when I went down around the bend I saw a little scrawny moose down in the water. On the way out we also saw a big burly mountain goat up on the ridge. A great day for game and an OK day fishing.

Very nice. Sounds like a great day. Those were big midges you saw.
