Well we found the crappie the longest was 9" most of them were around 7", staight out from the boat dock and actually they we suspended every where we went. We caught around 30 and brought home 20. They were down over 20 ft so when some of them came up they went into shock. My wife caught a 13+ perch and she was full of eggs. The best color was a marabeau jig and a light colored curly tail, chartrues tipped with some night crawler but the took the jig even without the crawler.
Came home sunburned and happy and my wife handle the pontoon very well only had to tow her in at the end of day after 5 hrs of fishin[cool] [signature]

I have done extremely well for small crappie outside of that arm on the actual river.

I am looking forward to seeing how they develop over the summer. Wouldn't be nice to have 10+ crappie as a regular take[

Are you talking length or quantity? If you are talking quantity, if the fishing this year is anything like it was last year it won't be a problem, because we were able to catch 10 in about 15 minutes or less. Their small size is just right for what I want them for -- sturgeon bait.

I was talking about length, nice big fillets would be awsome.[

You could catch them next to the concrete wall on the spillway side about 20 to 70' out and 3' down using a small jig-1/32oz in white. Mine had a red head. Almost a fish per cast but they were mostly 4 to 6". There was no water comming over the spillway. I fished below the dam for sturgeon Thursday and a couple of hours Friday morning using crappie and hooked 1 large and 1 small that I lost (I forgot my hook sharpener) And landed 2 on other bait -7' and 4+'. I saw several others landed and someone said that a guy got spooled by a big one. Kent

Thanks, I have never made it down to even see the dam, let alone to fish below it. I need to at least drive by there sometime on one of my sturgeon trips to CJ Strike.
