Winners Named in Ice Fishing Derby
#1
CASSOPOLIS -- Capt. Lyndon Parrish of the Cass County Sheriff's Office was knocked from his first-place perch by an Elkhart fisherman in Saturday's Stone Lake Ice Fishing Derby.

Bill Brown reeled in the winning perch, at 12.125 inches near the end of the daylong fishing contest. Parrish's perch measured 11.75 inches with two hours left in the derby.

Danny Frantz, of Dowagiac, caught the winning crappie, 11.250 inches, and Mike Sausman of South Bend won in the bluegill category with an 8.562-inch fish.

The winners pocketed $540 in the sixth annual ice angling derby, said organizer Fred Stein.

More than 125 fishermen, women and children competed.
