Tracking signs of wildlife at the Salato Center
#1
Frankfort, Kentucky - Wild animals can hear, see and smell humans long before we can see them. Their camouflage, speed, escape tactics, and cool weather habits add to the difficulty of seeing them in the wild. Often animals are right under our noses, but we can't see them.

Put on your animal tracking detective hat and join us at the Salato Wildlife Education Center on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 1 - 4 p.m. for an afternoon of learning about the comings and goings of wildlife in their natural habitat. We'll search for tracks, droppings, escape tunnels, nests and more signs from the wildlife that make their homes at the Salato Center. The cost is $10, and registration and prepayment are required. Everyone with a keen eye and a sense of adventure is encouraged to sign up. Space is limited, so call and reserve your spot today.

For more information call 1-800-852-0942, ext. 409. Learn more about upcoming events at the Salato Center on the Internet at fw.ky.gov. The Salato Center, operated by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, is located at the department's headquarters on U.S. 60 in Frankfort, 1.5 miles west of U.S. 127. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The Center is closed Sundays, Mondays and state holidays.
