The National Park Service (NPS) is developing an off-road vehicle management plan for the Cape Hatteras National Seashore located along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. ASA attended a public comment meeting in Washington, D.C. where the plan was outlined by the Outer Banks NPS superintendent Mike Murray. ASA Vice President Gordon Robertson is an alternate member of the Negotiated Rulemaking group that will develop a rule for off-road vehicle management at the seashore. ASA Board Member Bob Eakes, president, Red Drum Tackle, Buxton, North Carolina, is ASA's primary representative in the group which includes the NPS and other affected parties seeking to negotiate a settlement.
