Custom Rods
#1
I've currently carried Bubbashotrods.com as my sponsor going onto my second year now. I promised everyone an honest accessment after I was able to give them an honest beating............and I have. My most recent trip has finished convincing me of the quality and craftsmanship of these rods.

Each time I told Brian what I was looking for, that's what i've recieved. The first grouper I caught on his blue rod took it strait to the rail. I had my Penn 990 top shoted with 80lb braid and I wasn't sure if the rod would hold. But, with the drag fully locked down and a mighty tug, up came that first big Red. The tip was soft enough to reel the bite, and the rod was perfectly balanced with enough back bone to hause them up in 110' of water.

The pictures above only represent a small portion of the fish that have already been caught on the equipment he has produced for me. I currently have a 12wt flyrod that I have not yet tried. It will be a few more weeks before the water is warm enough to toss to mackerel, but i'm looking foward to it. The eyes and terminal attachents wrapped on the rods have been free of corrosion, telling me that either I do a good job of washing the eyes off, or he used high quality additions.

The only issue I had was with the type of eyes Brian had selected for the heavier rod. I had never used larger wire eyes on an offshore style rod, and was looking more for a low profile offshore style eyelet. But, they are holding fine through the abuse. So, even though it doesn't look like a traditional stand up rod, it works just as well. In fact, the distinct look is pretty cool.

I can't speak for his freshwater equipment, as I haven't tried it. But in respect for uniquely designed, quality saltwater gear, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Way to go Brian for making a product that really fits the bill. You definately get my seal of approval. [cool]
