Smallies below the Dam
#1
My son and I have been doing very well fishing for smallmouth below the American Falls Dam. These fish are rapidly becoming our favorite target. What they lack in size they more than make up for in fight!

We have caught them using Panther Martin spinners and plastic grubs rigged with 1/8 oz jig heads.

I thought they changed the limit to two this year. [:/] Those are some great smallmouth.

The limit in the reservior is still 6 per person. Below the dam is 2 per person; we had a third person with us. If the number of small/medium fish is any indication, the fishery should be strong for years to come.

I didn't mean to sound like I hate it when people keep fish. If you like to eat them take them, I just wanted to know for myself. I love fishing there. I married a girl from American Falls and that is my favorite Smallmouth spot. I am going to float from Eagle Rock to Mass. Rocks in my pontoon in a couple of weeks.

We fished below the A.F. dam again this weekend but the fishing was slow. The flow appeared to be greatly decreased from our last trip. The fish we did catch were small
