Salty fishing in Mumbai, India
#1
I had been to an abandoned jetty last weekend for some fishing. The jetty is no longer in use, and is just used by the locals for their fishing boats etc..
The topography is mainly rocky, with water levels about 5 to 8 feet deep, + or - a few feet depending on where you stand, and the tide..
There are definately quite a few fish in that area, cause iv seen locals who cast small nets pull out quite a few fish. One guy i was watching caught about 15 fish in about 30 miutes, and that too in shallowish water (about 8 feet).

Can anyone suggest the kind of bait, tackle etc i would need? My only fishing experience has been with the sweet water catfish, which is a bottom feeder.
How heavy should my weight be? At what distance from the weight should i tie on my hook? Do i use a float?
Im using an olympia slpit cane rod, coupled with a dam quick 331n reel.

Any suggestions for rocky saltwater fishing would be really really appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome aboard and thanks for the question.

I also do quite a bit of Jetty fishing. My favorite for the heavier rocky area are 1/4oz lead heads with plastic.

Take a look at the baitfish in the area. That should give you an idea as to what colors to buy.

Keep the questions coming. We are all here to help when we can.[cool]
