[#008000]Some good baits/riggins to start out with are: [/#008000]
[#008000] [/#008000]
[#008000]1. A worm fished on the bottom with just a slpit shot or under a bobber.[/#008000]
[#008000]2. A piece of plain white bread on a hook, either on bottom or under a bobber.[/#008000]
[#008000]3. A piece of canned or fresh corn on a hook, again on the bottom or under a bobber. [/#008000]
[#008000] [/#008000]
[#008000]You can make it more complicated by making your own dough baits, but that would probably be something to try after you are into Carp fishing for a while or you find that the fish are more pressured by a lot of anglers.[/#008000]

[#008000]I noticed you are from Texas. I also looked at your profile picture, that photo does not look like it was taken in Texas - It looks kind of like the Intermountain west. Where was that photo taken ? [/#008000]

One thing to remember about Carp. They always have a sweet tooth. (even though they are toothless)

The sweeter the bait, the better the chance at getting their attention.[cool]

TubeN2 you are correct on that carp have a sweet tooth but yes in fact they do have teeth. Carps teeth are called pharyngeal teeth they are in their throat and used for crushing things like nuts muscles craw fish etc.[cool]

cool,I 've never cut one open, before courios of what was in there..Teeth,.As long as they don't chew through by 4lb,fireline..woo hooo[Image: bobwink.gif]I heard its good luck to feed a carp, yet its bad luck to hook one, even wost, eat one,its a sacred fish,I consider it magical.I like to call them magic carp.I killed one by weighing from gill,,I sharpend the hook on my scale and weigh them fro bottom lip now.Even so,I still hear their back cracking as I lift them.turtles had a feast,he left a huge oil streeks on the suface.would of kept him but did'nt want the attention, from neighbors.its a catch and release lake.28lb 3/4 pers.best.here is a pic of me comforting a carp before its release.seen one 5 feet long as a 10 year old.at same lake.
