north rich pronghorn
#1
After 3 years I drew out on a Cache North Rich pronghorn hunt. I am very excited, and have wanted to hunt pronghorn for a long time. The problem is I drew out in a year when I have been extremely busy with work, so I haven't been able to scout yet. I am finally getting out this weekend to get to know the area, and hopefully find a good spot. If anyone could send me in the right general direction I would really appreciate it. I live in cache valley, (born and raised), but have never been to Randolph. Please, any advise would be appreciated.

Also does anyone know of any good utah hunting forums?
Thanks!

There is a good population of speed goats up there, and most of the cattle guys don't like them. Some do, so ask around, and I'm sure you'll find some of them would be happy for you to take one off of their land.

Just south of sage junction in the hay fields there are some nice ones. Like tkb said go talk to some of the ranchers there and they will point you in the right direction. Good luck.

[#6000bf]I live here in this unit. I have hunted it and know a lot of areas. You are one lucky person. I have noticed an increase in overall size this year for horn growth.[/#6000bf]

[#6000bf]If I was you, I would try to make it up here before the hunt. I can show you a few areas. There are areas that get hunted really hard in this unit and a few spots that see little, if no pressure.[/#6000bf]

[#6000bf]Just PM me and I can/will help you out[/#6000bf].

Thanks for the info! I will definitely be making a trip or two up before the hunt starts. I am really excited about this hunt, so I really appreciate the help.

Cadresults, that would be GREAT if you could help me out! I will PM you and hopefully we can get in touch.

If you don't aleady have a spot try west of randolph there i quite a bit of farm land along the majors but get up high off the beaten path cause all the opening day road hunters will push them up , I was not too familiar with the area and could have shot 10 bucks within the first hour of the hunt last year, lots of antelope to pick and choose from. you should be able to fill your tag easily. not really flat so you can usually get withing shooting distance pretty easy too. good luck

Thanks for the info. I meet up with Cadresults a couple weeks ago and he gave me the tour. There is alot more public land than I thought, and we saw some nice bucks.

So you had this hunt last year? How did you do?

I shot a smaller 13" long horned buck that was wider than tall (15") , he looked good from far so i took him. Only had the opening morning to hunt. If i draw another tag ever i would be more selective cause i am up in that area goofing around a little throughout the year and have seen a couple really nice ones. And if for some reason you are unsuccesful you should get up in that area, there is quite a few antelope up there. good luck on your hunt and show us some pics.
