Braided line is awesome for Bass fishing. It is best used for flipping, pitching and casting techniques.

It is not recommended for drop shotting since it is very visible in the water.

It is ideal for any and all of your topwater presentations.

The brand I use most for freshwater is the Power Pro brand.[cool]

Braided line is basically like a really thin rope. Its made from 3 or so lines twisted together. It looks like its really light, but it is actually really strong. 20lb braided looks like 5lb normal line. The only downside to braided is when its windy, it gets tangled up. I think the best braided line is Spiderwire.

Most of my bass rigs have braid on them, power pro or Fireline. Very sensative and I can put on 8lb and feel save on bringing home the big ones. Works well for salt water rigs as well. I do have floro on my dropshot and popper rods.

I don't use braided line much, there is no stretch at all. Therefore, it does have it's advantages in heavy cover but here in Utah it's mostly clear, rocky reservoirs so I use 8-12lb. mono. During ice season I will use it for jigging with a long flouro leader.
I've only tried Spider Wire, if I remember right it has a teflon coating to save wear on the eyelets and it does cast great. I have a couple spools laying around (I think) somewhere that I never use. You can have them if you want to try it out. Shoot me a pm with your address.

I've tried a lot of braided lines and by far the best is Stren Super Braid. They just came out with a new version of it with better coating on the line to prevent fading, but I havent even had a problem of the old stuff fading. I use 30lb test for my bass fishing applications. Go heavier if you fish really thick stuff.

I used to use Spiderwire Stealth a lot but I hated it because the color faded and it got 'flat'. Also tried fireline, but that stuff will fray like crazy.

I would pick up some of the new Stren Super Braid- you wont be dissapointed!
