Do you know how to paddle a kayak? Cast a fishing line? Ride a horse or a mountain bike?
You'll get the chance to try all four and dozens of other outdoor activities at the inaugural Hoosier Outdoor Expo, scheduled for Sept. 25-27, 2009, at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.
The Expo's goal is to provide families and young people a better awareness of outdoor recreation and natural resources conservation through a hands-on learning experience. Although the free event is aimed at drawing newcomers to the great outdoors, the Expo will provide more experienced participants a chance to polish their skills or to try something new.
There's never been an event like this in Indiana. The aim is to enhance the public's image and awareness of Hoosier outdoor heritage while connecting participants to like-minded groups and individuals. The event also will promote long-term participation in outdoor activities and good conservation stewardship.
