I always catch flack for wearing this very old and faded orange hunting vest. It has been a trusted quiet hunting friend but last year my hunting partners said they are buying me a new vest because they said it has be be reitred..... But I hate the brighten of a new blaze orange vests and I had mentioned this to a couple of other hunters and one guy mentioned that he has tried U V Killer and said that it works great. Basically its a spray that when applied to blaze orange reduces the UV reflective properties so deer & elk can't see you as well.
Has any of you hunters tried this product?
Here is a link to the UV Killer page - please let me know what your impressiions of the product...

I would worry a lot more about deer smelling me than them seeing me.
That product seems like a stupid thing to me. Deer are color blind anyway. They can see a plain black shirt just as well as a blaze orange jacket.
During the rifle deer season they are going to be running for thier lives all week anyway. Who cares if they see or smell you?

Here is what I do to check my gear. I bought a black light bulb and then go downstairs where it is real dark- no windows. Change the bulb in my drop light then run it over your camoflauge or hunting clothes. You will be able to see your patterns, but when you come across something that is UV reflective you will know it. It's amazing how bright some of the camo patterns are. I once had a realtree jacket that was pretty dull under the light ( non reflective) but the embroidered logo light up like a neon light. Same with the logo's on hats. Once you figure out if you clothes are reflective or not you can spray them with that UV killer spray and it help to reduce the reflectiveness. I won't completely eliminate it but it will help. Another thing I do is wash my clothes in sportsmans wash only. Do not use regular detergents, as they have UV brightners in there to make the colors look better.
Do a test and see for yourself what happens and then you can make your own judgements.
