A simple question which is helping display my lack of freshwater experience... does anyone know the species of fish these heads belong to? I'd say trout, but the teeth threw me- are they cutthroat? I'm not a fan of the impromptu trophy display case, but then again, if I caught these monsters, who knows.
My buddy who took the pics was awestruck by their absolute size, I guess enough so that he decided to take pictures... of these here fish heads..... hanging on barbed wire... and emailing them to me. Lucky.

Only Dolly Varden and Lake Trout have teeth like those, it would help to know where the pics were taken.

Dan you kill me (of course, you're right) [crazy]
These were on the fence surrounding the nearby campground. Spoke the guy who took the snaps, he thinks they were there for two, maybe three days before he got there. No guarantees they came out of those ponds I guess.
Here's the remaining pictures....

Simon, you heading up there again this year?
Enough small talk back to the fish, lookin at these photos i am sure these are trout. The one on the farthest left has that hook jaw deal that trout get when they are fixin to get their spawn on. I caught a few last time I was up there that had that going on.

Those are all rainbow trout. Most likely caught out of one of the Kirch ponds.

unless you guys have gotten a steelhead run there in kirch since the last time i visited those are definatly lakers ... other than lake run rainbows (steelhead) no other trout has that big of a head. And that hook thing on the jaw is a male fish with a kiped jaw that all mature males (trout and salmon) get when they are ready to spawn.
live fast ... fish hard!

Moray eels or Barracudas would be my guess. [cool] Sorry never seen a freshwater fish with teeth like that.
Best regards,
Paul
