The difference between the two rods is the fulcrum point, basically the balance or pivot point of the rod. You can buy some rods that you can change the weight on the butt of the rod to equal out the balance. However, in my own opinion, in a higher end rod weight balance isn't as important as sensitivity, the rods are already designed for equal balance.(I have two similar rods and have noticed no spectacular difference) I'm sure the weight balance has justification somehow but I would rather fish with a full cork handle because that is what I feel comfortable with.
Think of the rod as a pair of pants[crazy], you pick it up, you feel the weight of it, you 'wear' it, is it comfortable? Having a rod that is comfortable in your hands is much more important than one or two ounces of cork on the handle.

Rod C, Hunter Man, has an extended or "fighting" butt. The extra length provides more leverage down in the butt area. You can, for instance, jam it into your belly, and use your whole body for fighting a fish.

That sort of rod is very common in salt water fishing.

I just bought a new Shimano Crucial Drop Shot/Shaking rod that has the split handle. I can't say I like it better or less than the normal style.
