Reflections of the Past Year
#1
Between the Kokanee at Lucky Peak and the Rainbows at C.J. Strike, this was close to the perfect year.
My good friend and his wife came by after the death of her beloved father. I don't think I've seen anyone that depressed in a good while.
Well, they wanted to know my recommendation for local fishing to hopefully take her mind off family troubles.
I took them down to C.J. Strike for the day and she fought and landed every Rainbow that came into the boat. I think for a few hours she forgot. Fishing is good for the soul. A God given privelege we should cherish. Amen.
I am not a cold weather iceman so I'll be buying old guns over the winter and waiting for Spring and L.P. kokanee.
Thanks, Kodiak and others for all the posts and the invaluable information you provide. Nothing better than sharing fishing tales and directing fellow anglers to the fish...
Happy New Year to all that drown minnows and wet the lines...

And a Happy New Year to you, Burt, and all the other Bigfishers. I, like you, gave up the ice years ago, but the following reports from Kootenay and Arrow Lakes, just north of the Idaho border, are enough to get your juices flowing for some winter fishing. These two are just about the only guides on the two lakes. We fished Kootenay this spring w/o a guide, and did well, but certainly not the numbers that these guides get. The trout rarely go less than 4 #s, and 6-8 is average. Some are in the low 20's! See you at L.P. this spring! Mike

It is great to have your experience and knowledge from the other side of the state. Have a great winter and we will look forward to hearing from you as the snow melts.
