Sat. spent the morning fishing Rigby with Steelfisher and my family. We did pretty well at first light in the deepest water we could find. The fishing died off after 9:00 as often happens.
In the afternoon we went to Roberts perch fishing again slayed the small perch with small ice flies. Is there no end to the small perch in Roberts?
Monday fished Chesterfield from 7:30-12:00. We landed 13 beautiful rainbows. Most of them were 15-16" but we got a couple in the 18" range. Green paddle bugs tipped with night crawler seemed to do the ticket. There was a feeding frenzy at 8:50 when we landed eight in about 15 minutes then it slowed down again.
After lunch in Soda Springs we hit Alexander. I had never been there before so it was all guess work. We fished a ton of different holes and managed to bring in 30 perch but all of them were 6-7". We did not find any of the big ones.
Monday evening we stayed in Lava for some swimming and hot water fun. The kids had a great time. We were planning on fishing Deep Creek on Tuesday but some family things came up so we went back to Chesterfield for two hours on Tuesday morning as we had to make a quick exit to Rexburg by noon.
Tuesday we had a terrible time landing the fish. We got plenty of hits but they did not give us much of a chance. One bang and they were gone. My son landed the biggest fish of the trip at 22". It was amazing how many hits we got that we could just not land.
All in all it was a wonderful few days of ice fishing.
Here are a few pics.
