snowmobile on devil creek?
#1
Hi everyone im headed up to devils creek on friday and was wondering if anyone has had a snowmobile on there, or if its safe enough for one? I know its not that big of a lake but Ill be taking my father that has a medical condition and cannot walk out. Also I read that I will need to register it for use in Idaho since I am a Utah resident? is that right? Also do you have to register 4 wheelers? thanks

I don't know anything about the ice conditions there, but I believe if your machine is licensed in your home state, Idaho will recognize that and it is all that is needed. Yes, ATV must be registered. It used to be a sticker, but starting this year, it must have a plate. Same as with the snowmobile, if you are legal in your home state you should be fine here also. At least that is how it has been.... There are a bunch of new laws taking affect this year. I was there on the first and the ice was plenty thick for a snowmobile or for a wheeler i dont think you would have a bit of trouble.

im not sure that you have to have tyhem registered to have them on the ice. I called fish and game and asked they told me i didnt need to have them stickered but i know they have to be if you are gonna trail ride with them. Thats what the fees go to is trail grooming. So some further research may be needed to make this clear.

A friend of mine had his 4 wheeler on the ice today. 1-10-09 and when traveling broke threw the top layer of ice into the slush layer a few times . No problems. Other than a little stain in the under pants. Just a warning! Also some slush on the edges.
