Had the day off work, and my dad was out chasing ghosts somewhere else, so i decided to ride over to deer creek, i hit the charleston bridge first, caught a few trout and one small mouth, it was about 12 inches. I rode further down the river and was about 100 feet from the lake, i was drifting a worm with the current and caught a few trout and a walleye. all were small. I decided i would try something new, so i put on a banjo minnow, the biggest one i had, and was making it pop the surface, after about 5 cast a huge brown came out of his hole and nailed it, it turned out to be about 20 inches and weighed about 3 pounds. that was about it for my day at deer creek.

My father some years back purchased the Banjo minnows, and I have no clue what to do with them. I would be interested if someone had some advise or willing to show me what makes them so good, or basically how to use them. Thanks

I have found that they work really good to hold down a shelf in my garage! Now that I have had more experience fishing jigs I need to drag the box out again, blow the dust off of it, and see how I could fish them.

[cool]Just had to make a point, didn'cha Kent. I still maintain that Banjo minnows, and most of the other infomercial tackle wonders, do a better job of catching fishermen than fish. I heard tell that Kent heard there was going to be a shortage of Banjo Minnows, so he bought a truckload before the hoarders got there.
I also hold forth that a good fisherman (Like FB2) can catch fish on almost any lures they have to fish with. But, a poor fisherman often can't get bit even using the same bait or lures that everyone else is using to catch fish.
Keep up the good work, FB2, but don't overdo it on the shoulder before it is ready to handle those bigguns.

well it is about time for the brace to be coming of and i can cast just fine. as for fishingt the banjo minnow, it is the simplest thing i have used, all y0ou do is cast out and twitch it back, you can get tricky and have it do stuff but it is not nessicary. o and to show how easy it really is, it was my first time with it, and it was in a river.

Nice report FB2 , Banjos minnows even . I got a shelf of them too ! Was trying zipper worms tonight and nail 4 LM bass Biggest only 12 " . I should of hooked some of the bigger fish but those little ones wouldn't leave my worm alone . Maybe tomorrow I'll try Banjos . I have had fish hit them but they steal my minnow and leave my hook . I always try to set the hook to soon . Even with the zippers worms I would set to soon and missed many tonight . Need to install stinger hook on them . tight lines

here is a good way to make a good stinger hook for your banjo, get a long needle and send it all the way through the minnows body, then send some live through the needele to the other side, the attach a hook, the live cant be hight ot her wise it would mess up th minnows action. try that see how it works.
