Here are some of the Ideas and things I have learned and gathered over the years of ice fishing and reading this forum . I put holes in my shanty from draging it over the years and wish I would have put ski's on it when it was new . Another trick I learned is if you use braided line or spider wire or you have trouble with your line sticking to your guides . Just spay your spool with WD40 . The braid absorbs the WD40 and won't freeze . One more , I youst to just put all my rods in a five gallon bucket to transport them . When I got where I was going I had one tangled up mess . So I Put PVC rod holders on it . Now no more tangles .Anyone have any more tricks they would like to share . Thanks Curt G.

good ideas. Thanks for posting that picture with all those rods. Now when my wife tries to tell me I have too many rods I can show her that picture and say look how many this guy has[laugh]!

Thanks for the pictures of your ideas. I definately need to do something to make my rod mess easier. I have 12 rods right now. I try to pre rig them the night before a trip with whatever I think I will need. They often end up in a mess.

Thanks for the ideas.....I am going to rig up my bucket like yours. Nothing more frustrating then untangling poles when everyone around you is catching fish[mad]

[cool] I like the idea with the bucket holder. Had a tangle of rods the other day on Ririe. Precious fishing time lost. Thanks for the idea, you may have just started a trend!

I ice fish not because I like the cold, but because it is the only time I can impress my wife, by walking on water.

But had a blast caught some nice trout.. Sure would like to go again someday... But have to say nice riggin on the equipment guys....

I don't know how the fishing has been, I'm from the east side of the state, but I'll be doing the crappie/sturgeon thing the first week in march. I'll let you know how I do. Do you (or anybody else) know if early march is a good time to try it? I'm going to Boise for a fisheries conference, but I can't get that close to those monsters without taking a shot at them!

They fish for sturgeon all year below CJ but not as much in Dec-Feb due to the cold. I usually make a trip over there about the end of April to first of May. Last year at that time there were crappie all over at the spillway that were 4-6" that would hit a small (1")white and red tube jig under a float. That was the primary bait that people were using for sturgeon. 40 pound line at the minimum and an 8-10 oz weight. There is alot of current at times coming from the turbines.
